Milford FC has issued a statement expressing deep concern over scammers who are falsely using the club’s name to solicit money from members of the public.
The warning comes after the Stallions secured promotion to the Betway Premiership for next season through the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs two weeks ago.
Hundreds of aspiring young footballers attended Milford FC’s open trials for the DStv Diski Challenge at Empangeni Rugby Club on Sunday.
The trials targeted talented players aged between 16 and 19 (born between 2007 and 2010), as the club’s promotion to the top flight means it is required to field a DStv Diski Challenge team next season.
“It has come to the attention of Milford FC that certain individuals are falsely using the club’s name to ask for money from players, parents, and members of the public.
“Milford FC would like to make it clear that the club does not request payments from individuals for player registrations, trials, contracts, employment opportunities or any other club-related activities.
“We urge everyone to exercise caution regarding these kinds of scams.
“Milford FC will not be held responsible for any losses resulting from payments made to unauthorised individuals.
“We thank our supporters and the public for their cooperation in helping us protect the integrity of the club.”
Meanwhile, the PSL has confirmed that the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season will kick off on 1 August, while the MTN8 quarter-finals will begin a week later.
