Milford coach Xanti Pupuma was left speechless after his side secured a place in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs.
Milford played to a goalless draw against Hungry Lions in the final match of the Motsepe Foundation Championship season on Sunday.
Having entered the match in second place on the Motsepe Foundation Championship table, Milford dropped to third after Cape Town City thrashed Leicesterford City 4-2 at Dobsonville Stadium.
With Kruger United having already secured top spot with several games to spare, attention turned to the battle for the second and third positions, which carry qualification for the playoffs against the team that finishes 15th in the Betway Premiership.
“We are super proud of the boys,” said Pupuma.
“It was very, very difficult, but we always knew it was going to be tough. We made things difficult for ourselves by not taking our chances.
“But in this division, every away game is tough. You take whatever you can get. We are grateful for the point, and it doesn’t matter whether we finish second or third. As long as we are in the playoffs, we will get another opportunity with the four playoff matches.”
The Betway Premiership relegation battle will be decided this coming Saturday, with all fixtures kicking off simultaneously.
The team currently occupying the playoff position in 15th place is ORBIT College, who will host Orlando Pirates at Mbombela Stadium.
Interestingly, Orbit College earned promotion to the top flight through the playoffs last season.
