Milford has been drawn with Lamontville Golden Arrows in the opening clash of the upcoming KZN Premier’s Cup.
The high-profile pre-season tournament kicks off on Saturday, 24 July, at the Princess Magogo Stadium, playing host to three highly anticipated knockout fixtures.
Following the opening clash between Arrows and Milford, Durban City FC will take on top-flight rivals and defending champions Richards Bay FC.
The opening day concludes with a standalone fixture between AmaZulu FC and regional qualifiers Midlands Wondrous.
Due to the structure of the tournament draw, both Usuthu and Midlands Wondrous received a bye past the initial play-off matches, advancing straight into Sunday’s final-four bracket.
The action moves to the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday, 25 July, for the final day of the competition. The morning will feature a single semi-final match contested by the winner of Golden Arrows vs Milford and the winner of Durban City vs Richards Bay.
The victor of that match will immediately advance to the tournament final later that afternoon, waiting to play the winner of the Saturday afternoon match between AmaZulu and Midlands Wondrous.
To protect squads from early-season fatigue, tournament organizers have scrapped extra time entirely. If a match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, it will proceed directly to a penalty shootout.
Furthermore, teams will be allowed to use up to seven substitutes to manage player workloads. Defending champions Richards Bay enter the tournament looking to protect the crown they captured for the first time in their history last year.
