Menzi Chili Wonder-Strike Sends Milford FC Into The Top Flight!

KwaZulu-Natal will boast five teams in the PSL top flight next season after Milford FC clinched promotion, securing the vital point they needed in a dramatic PSL Promotion/Relegation Play-off 1-1 draw against Magesi FC.

Milford’s midfield orchestrator, Menzi Chili, struck the decisive equalizer in the 59th minute, unleashing a powerful left-footed shot that flew past Elvis Chipezeze into the back of the net. Chili’s crucial intervention canceled out Edmore Chirambadare’s 14th-minute headed opener for the Limpopo hosts.

The Stallions could have avoided the second-half anxiety entirely. In the 32nd minute, the visitors were awarded a penalty after Siphosethu Ndlabi’s goalbound strike struck the arm of Magesi defender Lehlogonolo Mokone inside the box. However, Cheswyn Philander failed to convert from the spot.

Milford entered the high-stakes encounter sitting at the summit of the mini-league table with six points from three matches—two ahead of second-placed Magesi. Holding out for the stalemated draw was enough to secure their dream promotion while simultaneously condemning Magesi to relegation.

Allan Freese’s side will drop down to the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season, joining Orbit College, who suffered automatic relegation at the end of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Milford’s historic breakthrough expands KwaZulu-Natal’s top-flight contingent to a powerful pack of five elite clubs, alongside provincial rivals AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Durban City, and Richards Bay.
